Museum of Lost Histories

The Museum of Lost Histories
A Solo Journaling TTRPG of Forgotten Stories and Unfolding Mystery
In this game, you uncover lost artifacts and reconstruct the past —one forgotten figure at a time.
Each night, you search the Museum’s shifting halls, discovering a Lost Box hidden among the dust of vanished ages.
Inside, you find a single object, scattered notes, and cryptic records. They describe the last traces of a person, a moment, or a story erased from time.
Through a mix of dice-driven discovery and immersive journaling, you will rebuild their history piece by piece, determining:
- Who they were
- What role they played in history
- What defined their existence
- Why they were erased
But with each round, the Museum itself is changing.
Strange occurrences, shifting corridors, and cryptic warnings hint at a deeper mystery. The mystery threatens not just the lost stories you uncover, but the very foundation of the Museum itself.
How It Works
- Roll dice to generate a forgotten figure from five key categories: Time Period, Role, Item, Event, and Personality.
- Write a journal entry piecing together their story—who they were, how they lived, and why history forgot them.
- Roll on the mystery tables each round to reveal why the Museum is collapsing and whether it can be saved.
- Continue for ten rounds, slowly unraveling the truth behind the Museum’s fate.
Discovery, Mystery, and Reconstruction
Your figures could come from anywhere in history. Prompts cover the Stone Age, Ancient Egypt, Feudal Japan, the Viking Age, the Wild West, World War II, or even the distant future.
You never know who you will find next, or what secrets they might reveal.
There is no set ending or scripted outcome.
Every playthrough is different, shaped by your rolls, your writing, and your interpretation of the discoveries.
By round ten, you will face the final decision: Will the Museum survive? Will history be restored? Or will it all be lost forever?
Who Is This Game For?
If you enjoy solo journaling RPGs, narrative driven mysteries, or games like Thousand Year Old Vampire, this game is for you.
Whether you want to play a full ten round arc or just a single night in the Museum, it adapts to your pace.
